Chief Operations Officer’s Report—First Quarter 2022 | Beacons of Leadership: Past, Present, Future

Chief Operations Officer’s Report: Beacons of Leadership—Past, Present, FutureBrien Jones
Chief Operations Officer and
Executive Vice President of Business Development
Distinguishing NACVA from other professional organizations are the great strides we take to get members involved. Not just focused on the busy work of running an association, but to help our members build their reputations, credibility, professional aspirations, and practices.
NACVA’s Foundations
In 1991, we recognized that forging a global profession was far greater than we could achieve in a silo or in a vacuum from our mountain valley headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dedicated experts, volunteers, and contractors in the early days of the Association rolled up their sleeves alongside HQ to blaze trails that we did not fully recognize, or dream would become possible as we grew into a vibrant and rapidly growing global organization. Some of these remarkable individuals continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with us today, some we have lost, some have drifted away, but NACVA’s foundation was built on collaboration, an open door to most anyone interested, an open call to share skills, talent, drive, ambition, experience, foresight, innovation, and compassionate professionalism to forge an industry together. That was our commitment to them. It remains true now.
No Shortage of Past and Future Leadership
NACVA’s history is entrenched having worked alongside experts across a wide and diverse spectrum of the professional landscape. Together, we have achieved notable milestones and all along the way have given voice and opportunity for the future of the profession to learn from and be mentored by industry pioneers. There is no shortage of past or future expertise and leadership within NACVA and GACVA. It flows strongly within the organization and to the outside global arena we serve.
The Future is Bright
The past year—2021—was so busy managing and evolving every aspect of our operations through the pandemic, diligently serving our members and the profession, that we hardly took a breath to celebrate our 30-year anniversary. Your past year was likely the same. Extreme hard work. Unpredictable change. Curveballs at every turn. Nose to the grindstone. Looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. We celebrated by doubling down on service. This was necessary. The growing pains we experienced have given us greater clarity and respect to our greatest strengths—exceptional leaders and dedicated HQ personnel.
Looking to the future, we keep the past in full view.
We encourage you to get involved as little or as much as you would like, be it through volunteerism or engaged contractor roles.
Please take some time to learn about the robust benefits included with your membership. Many were sparked from member feedback.
