Program Description:
A review of rates used to discount future lost profits to present value shows a wide range running from 1.24% to 36%. While the facts of cases vary, how could experts arrive as such diverse results? This course will attempt to provide some sanity to why the courts have found these varying rates acceptable and show how the initial analysis by the expert plays an important role in setting the calculations on a path for lower or greater discount rates.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Differentiate and choose an approach from various options for determining the discount rate based on the facts of the case
- Recognize and support the approach selected for assessing the discount rate
- Determine which of the different approaches to use when determining lost profit discount rates based on the facts
