Program Description:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming business valuation practice, not by replacing valuation professionals, but by fundamentally altering how valuation analyses are performed, reviewed, and defended. This course examines how AI tools are currently being applied within valuation engagements, how this will evolve in the future, and how NACVA professionals can ensure they are ready for the most transformative technology the profession has ever seen.
Takeaways After completing this course, attendees will be able to understand how AI materially changes the economics, expectations, and execution of valuation services. They will be equipped to make informed strategic decisions about where and how AI should be incorporated into valuation practices while preserving professional judgment, independence, and defensibility. Attendees will also be able to position themselves and their firms for long term relevance by redefining the valuator’s role around higher order analysis, oversight, and client communication as AI becomes embedded in the profession.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify what has materially changed in AI recently (capabilities, accessibility, cost) and why it matters specifically for valuation professionals
- Determine which steps in the end-to-end valuation workflow are best suited for AI augmentation and which should remain human-led
- Select practical AI techniques for common valuation tasks, including data extraction and normalization, research synthesis, draft narrative support, checklisting, and quality assurance review, to improve efficiency and quality
- Identify the key risk categories (confidentiality, bias, hallucinations, IP, audit trail, supervision) and define controls required to use AI responsibly in a valuation practice
- Recognize how AI shifts the valuator’s value-add from manual production toward higher judgment, review, defensibility, and client communication, and which skills become more important
- Determine a near-term adoption plan involving tools, training, governance, and workflow changes to prepare a firm or team for the next 12–24 months of AI-driven change
