Program Description:
This session will examine the various avenues available to a business owner to transition out of their company. From passing it on to family members or employees, to selling it to a third party. The session will cover key considerations, pros and cons, and necessary steps for each option. It also identifies ways to maximize the value of the business to the owner and reduce taxes.
Concrete examples will be given of business actions an owner can undertake in the years leading up to a sale/transfer that will make their business more attractive, and thus valuable, to buyers.
Takeaways Attendees will gain a solid understanding of the pros and cons of the various options available to a business owner who wants to transition their equity ownership. They will learn how to guide a business owner through the process of identifying what is the best option for them and what the business owner can do to maximize their financial outcome, once an option has been selected.
