Program Description:
In this session we will explore the timely challenges that currently impact our practice of business valuation and financial forensics. We will evaluate the challenges presented by the emerging world of artificial intelligence (AI) and how we will respond to them. How do we respond? How will it change our work? How will it change the work of the attorneys who hire us? What new risks should we prepare for and what will be the new threshold for the professional standard care? We will explore how this will be additionally complicated by emerging professional standards, increasing foundational thresholds, and continually evolving legal requirements. Our panel of esteemed judges will bring it all together for us. Come prepared to ask questions and to begin thinking about additional questions posed by our judges.
After completing this session, attendees will have a greater understanding of how AI, emerging standards increasing legal thresholds impact our work process, and our work product. Attendees will gain an appreciation for the continuing educational and practice paths that they must consider as their professional practices move forward. Attendees will also have a greater understanding of how our work is viewed by the judges and how the judge's views can be expected to evolve with today's emerging technology (AI) and the standards that govern our work.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the additional challenges presented by AI
- Determine how business valuation and financial forensics experts use these challenges to their benefit
- Recognize areas in which the legal profession can be expected to use AI in their interaction with financial experts
- Identify how business valuation and financial forensics experts can use AI in the development of their opinions
- Determine how business valuation and financial forensics experts can use AI in the formulation of their oral and written communications, both pretrial and during trial
- Recognize the impact of "foundation" in each step of the expert's work from development, through report writing, deposition, and trial
- Recognize how compliance with emerging professional standards becomes an increasingly critical part of our emerging technology
- Identify how evolving legal thresholds enhance the requirement that we appropriately incorporate emerging technology (AI) into our approach to our engagements
