Program Description:
This session will discuss as the current valuation methodology has advanced, so has the valuation of family limited partnerships (FLPs). The session will cover current methodologies and resources for the valuation of non-controlling privately held interests in family limited partnerships (FLP). Particular focus will be on what a family limited partnership is and what discounts are currently utilized in valuing a family limited partnership. Also discussed will be the challenges presented by the IRS and the current outcome and where we stand regarding those challenges. An in-depth understanding of the Partnership Profiles marketplace will also be presented.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Determine what a family limited partnership is
- Recognize valuation methods used for FLP
- Identify the challenges posed by the IRS
- Select and demonstrate research of empirical data to support discounts found in these valuations
