Program Description:
In the field of litigation support, there are newbies just entering the field and practitioners who are old pros. Regardless of the level of experience, it is always good to examine the basic tools and methods of our work and be reminded why we do what we do. This session will review the basics for calculating lost profits. It will be a refresher for some and a primer for others. All should leave with a better understanding of the fundamentals for presenting lost profits in a litigious situation.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Determine the differences between calculating lost profits and a business valuation
- Recognize the best approach for estimating lost profits in various situations
- Identify and describe the data and/or research needed for a lost profits analysis to meet the standards set by the courts
