Program Description
This will not be a session focused on re-hashing empirical resources used in the development of discounts for lack of marketability nor on the models used (well, there may be some discussion…). Rather it will be a lively intellectual exercise in bridging the difference between what we elect to use as our empirical starting point or benchmark and what we ultimately use/rely upon to adjust liquidity in specific valuation engagements. We will provide information on how to support and BRIDGE this gap to professional judgement/subjectivity in arriving at defensible and well-reasoned adjustments for liquidity/marketability depending on the valuation methods employed and the level of control being valued. In a nutshell, we will be discussing reasoning, not resources. We may add some commentary on the various models/resources as necessary, but that is not our focus.
Learning Objectives
After completing this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the difference between Liquidity and Marketability
- Identify the natural level of value derived from different valuation methods (where you land depends on the method used and the adjustments made)
- Determine when to use DLOM vs. and considerations that change the magnitude of the adjustment(s)
- Identify errors when averaging methods before applying DLOMs and DLOLs
Who Should Attend
CPAs, valuators, practitioners, etc.—anyone interested in developing and advancing their skills for this topic.
