Tonisha Pinckney
Tonisha "Dr. Toni" Pinckney, Ph.D., MSCJ, MAFF, CFE, CBE, CSCD, CCII
Dr. Tonisha M. Pinckney, “Dr. Toni,” is an outspoken author, advocate, and activist on racial, socioeconomic, and gender disparities.  Dr. Toni is exceptionally passionate about creating safe spaces for difficult conversations.   With over 20 years of combined professional experience and a plethora of education, Dr. Toni has been called a “renaissance woman” and humanitarian. She is a criminologist, criminal justice expert, forensic accountant, certified fraud examiner, and a master analyst in financial forensics, business consultant, trained mediator/negotiator, and more. Dr. Toni partners with law enforcement, corporations, nonprofits, schools, colleges/universities, and religious groups to craft opportunities for open, honest, and respectful dialogue related to race/ethnicity, socioeconomic disparities, gender- and gender-identity based bias, crime and justice policy and reform, mental health awareness, workplace bullying, and more.  Dr. Toni said, “I see fraud examination and financial forensics work as an extension of my commitment to seek and facilitate truth, equity, and justice, even in only in the most minor ways.”

Dr. Toni is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Salem State University, Part-time Professor and Subject Matter Expert in the School of Business at Northcentral University, and Lecturer at Lasell University.  Recent clients and partners include the National Alliance for Mental Illness of Massachusetts, Worcester State University, Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, National Coalition Against Workplace Bullying, Winston Flowers, HubSpot, and Kraft-Heinz.

At NACVA, Dr. Toni serves on the Ethics and Oversight Board and co-chaired the 2020 Conference.  Dr. Toni became a member in 2010.  She said, “My career did not take the traditional turn into financial forensics, fraud examination, and organizational ethics and leadership. I am inspired by NACVA’s commitment to diversity, growing best practices in the industry, and adding value to the certifications.  In a world were racial and socioeconomic disparities limit opportunities for communities of color, it is refreshing to see a business and finance driven organization show (not just speak about) strides toward belonging and inclusion.”
