State Chapter News: National State Chapter Days and New Presidents

Kal Bumgardner
Senior Projects Manager, NACVA

The Association has been actively engaged with our State Chapters. We successfully organized and conducted two National State Chapter Days in October and November featuring noteworthy presentations from our NACVA and the CTI’s Business Valuation and Financial Litigation Super Conference in July.

HQ collaborated with the Indiana State Chapter to coordinate their own State Chapter Day and we have facilitated the merger of the two Ohio State Chapters into a single Chapter. Also, we are delighted to announce our inaugural State Chapter Presidents Day, scheduled for January.

Please join me in welcoming new State Chapter Presidents in Minnesota and Oklahoma.

Chris Van Schooneveld, CPA, CVA, ABV
Minnesota State Chapter President

Mr. Van Schooneveld is a Director in the Forensic, Litigation, and Valuation Services Department at Eisner Advisory Group, LLC and performs a wide range of valuation and consulting services. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed by the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, holds the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). Mr. Van Schooneveld served in the U.S. Army from September 2004 through December 2008. During this time, he received numerous awards, including five Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and an Iraq Campaign Medal. In addition, he was named the 101st Airborne Division Soldier of the Year and the 18th Airborne Corps Soldier of the Year in 2006. He was honorably discharged from the Army in December 2008 at the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Van Schooneveld has thousands of hours of experience valuing closely held businesses and intellectual property in the context of financial reporting, estate and gift tax, sales and acquisitions, entity conversions, shareholder buyouts, and disputes. In addition to providing business and intellectual property valuation services, he provides litigation support services related to business valuation disputes and lost-profits analyses.

Mr. Van Schooneveld is a 2021 recipient of the NACVA and CTI’s “40 Under Forty” award.

Austin Vance, JD
Oklahoma State Chapter President

Austin R. Vance is a litigator and forensic economist with the law firm Whitten Burrage in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There, he represents clients in the Courtroom and assists others through transactions or other economic projects. His projects usually relate to tribal economic development, such as assisting the Quapaw Nation in using federal funding to reorganize its tribal courts and developing damage models for pipelines trespassing on tribal lands. Aside from tribal economic development, however, he assisted the University of Oklahoma in its transition to the Southeastern Conference and currently serves as litigation co-counsel to Continental Resources in its stock acquisition lawsuits pending in Oklahoma. Mr. Vance joined the NACVA this year and is excited about focusing further on tribal economic development and forensic economics as his trade. He can be contacted at (405) 697-8952 or by e-mail to Austin.r.vance@icloud.com, for any State members with questions.

If you would like to become a State Chapter President or have any general questions about our State Chapter program, please feel free to reach out to Kal Bumgardner (KalB1@NACVA.com) or Emily Wagman (EmilyW1@NACVA.com).
