Trust but Verify: Building an AI Governance Playbook for Valuation, Litigation, and Forensic Accounting
October 2, 2026 | 8:10–9:00 a.m. MT
Program Description
AI is no longer a future consideration for business valuation, litigation support, and forensic accounting professionals—it is already reshaping how evidence is gathered, models are built, and opinions are formed and defended. But speed and automation without governance is a liability, not an advantage. In this keynote, Jordan Morrow , "The Godfather of Data Literacy", makes the case that the firms and professionals who win in the next decade will not be the ones who adopt AI fastest, but the ones who govern it best.
Jordan walks the audience through the four pillars every valuation, litigation, and forensic accounting professional needs to master: AI governance (security, standards, and the regulatory landscape shaping how AI can and should be used in high-stakes financial work); critical thinking, and why the human must remain in the lead when AI outputs feed directly into opinions that hold up in court or under audit; ethics, and what responsible, defensible AI use looks like when credibility and professional judgment are on the line; and the future of the profession, what business valuation, litigation support, and forensic accounting will look like as AI capability accelerates, and how firms should be positioning themselves now.
Attendees will leave with a practical mental model for evaluating and governing AI in their own practices; not a hype pitch, and not a fear pitch, but a clear-eyed, actionable framework for using AI with confidence, credibility, and control.
How You Will Benefit
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:
- Identify AI governance fundamentals: What "governance" actually means in practice (security considerations, emerging standards, and the regulatory environment valuation and forensic professionals need to track)
- Use human-in-the-lead critical thinking: Why AI-assisted work still requires rigorous human judgment, and a framework for staying the decision-maker rather than a rubber stamp
- Demonstrate ethics in high-stakes work: What ethical AI use looks like when the output supports testimony, litigation, or a defensible valuation opinion
- Describe the future of the profession: Where AI is heading for valuation, litigation support, and forensic accounting, and what it means for how firms compete, staff, and price their work
- Recognize how to use a practical lens for evaluating AI: A simple way to decide when and how to bring AI into engagements without compromising credibility
- Govern before you scale. AI adoption without governance creates exposure (in credibility, in compliance, and in the courtroom). Build the guardrails first.
- Stay the human in the lead. AI can accelerate the work, but professional judgment, skepticism, and critical thinking are what make the opinion defensible.
- The future belongs to the credible, not just the fast. Firms that pair AI capability with ethical, governed practice will be the ones clients and courts trust most.
