A Year After U.S. Elections: Impact on Global Economy and Markets

Thursday, September 11, 2025 | 9:20–11:00 a.m. MT

Program Description

Under the new Trump administration, policies around tariffs, deregulation, immigration, and taxation are already having a material impact on the outlook for the global economy and financial markets. Projected economic growth is being downgraded, capital spending plans are being delayed, and M&A and IPO activity is stalling. Businesses are facing heightened uncertainty, creating challenges on planning for the future, which makes estimating future cash flows ever more difficult.

Join Carla Nunes and James Harrington (both of Kroll) as they deliver a global economic and financial market update, and discuss the related impact on cost of capital assumptions and valuation analyses.

How You Will Benefit
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain and discuss the impact that the policies of the new U.S. administration are having on the global economy, financial markets, and valuation analyses
  • Identify and understand the reaction by the U.S. central bank in terms of interest rates policy and the corresponding impact on risk-free rates
  • Evaluate the adjustments that may be needed for projected growth in cash flows and cost of capital estimates (e.g., cost of debt, risk-free rate, equity risk premium)
Who Should Attend
In addition to the traditional valuation professionals, this session will be valuable to corporate finance officers, CPAs who deal with either valuation for financial reporting, tax. or client valuations issues, and judges and attorneys who deal with valuation issues.
