It goes without saying, we are all glad 2020 is behind us and hopeful things will brighten in 2021. With that said, I wish you all a happy new year.
For many of us, 2020 gave us some good learning experiences; for that matter, it was a crash course in how to survive a global crisis. Each of us had our own unique experience and processed things differently based on our individual make-up. Though there were many commonalities in what we gained from this experience, such as: yes, we can make it work with our staff working from home; yes, I can get my continuing education on-line and it works pretty well; yes, if there is a will there is a way to get beyond every hurdle in my way. But most of all, I suspect what most of us gained from the 2020 experience is, in order to survive, we must be able to depend on one another. Living, existing, and thriving is a team effort. And if that is all you learned from the last year, you took with you a valuable lesson.
For the last two years, NACVA has been developing the most comprehensive program for member mentor support ever seen certainly in our profession, but likely in any profession. We know teamwork is key to a successful enterprise, a successful career, and a successful life. It will keep you in business in difficult times and help you thrive in good times.
We are in the final stages of development of our Mentor Support Exchange (MSX) and soon will be running our beta test with plans to roll-out the program in the first quarter of 2021. However, I am so excited about the MSX that I decided to give our membership a sneak preview. We have already had many members step-up to support the program in one or more capacities as you will see shortly, but we are constantly looking for more to participate. You will find in each defined area of support an application to submit your interest in being part of this ground-breaking, career-building, lifeline to the business valuation community—the Mentor Support Exchange.
To see is to believe: click here to access our MSX. I welcome your comments at Parnell1@NACVA.com.
Best wishes for the new year.
