by Brien K. Jones, Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President
I have the good fortune to serve a two-year term as Vice President, Practice for the Forensic Accounting Section (FAS) of the American Accounting Association (AAA), one of the fastest growing sections of the AAA.

My role on the FAS governing board involves bridging academia with practice to cultivate opportunities for students and faculty to discover career opportunities in our global profession and conversely, to support research and development through academic pursuits that can benefit our profession.
Launching my support to the FAS and to the AAA’s 2020 virtual annual meeting held this past August, I jointly moderated the session “Forensic Accounting and Valuation—Opportunities in Practice, Research, and Education” with FAS President Richard Riley, PhD, CPA. Mr. Riley is the Louis F. Tanner Distinguished Professor of Public Accounting at West Virginia University and Director of Research for the Institute of Fraud Prevention. He holds NACVA’s Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation along with the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designations. Session panelists included:
I will provide regular updates in subsequent issues of the Association News as to my support of the AAA and may call upon you—our valued credential designees and members—to support these endeavors.
Wish me luck!
