Program Description
There are possible marital claims to future earnings in employment related contracts, such as the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). As employees develop their skills over the years, future compensation increases. For example, the CBA outlines future minimum and maximum compensation based on years of service. Experience earned during the course of the marriage allows for substantial future earnings, especially in the case for NBA players who have guaranteed contracts.
Learning Objectives
After completing this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Differentiate between guaranteed future compensation and potential future compensation - Identify a situation that may involve accrued compensation based on experience earned during the course of the marriage - Calculate the marital portion of future earnings - Cite relevant case law - Identify when an expert may be required
