Comprehensive exit planning is not just about the business. Preparing the business owner is just as important. Quite often even when the business is properly positioned, the ownership transition does not occur because the business owner's goals, concerns, and understanding of his or her position and ultimate goals were left out of the mix.

This webinar will focus on the importance of estate planning and personal financial planning, where they fit into the exit planning and process, and specifically, what the exit planner needs to focus on in these areas. We will also discuss what to look for when vetting other professionals to provide the client with the critical information and services he needs to ensure a successful exit from his business.

Joan M. Ridley, CEPA, CBI, CFP
Ms. Joan Ridley leads the design and implementation of strategies to help business owners maximize company value and prepare themselves and their business for a successful ownership transition. She has more than 30 years of experience advising business owners and managing their business and non-business wealth. Ms. Ridley's background as a personal wealth advisor gives the client an added advantage because she is able to interface the performance of the business with the client's personal wealth issues outside the business, which are overseen by the client's personal wealth advisor.

Before establishing Business Wealth Solutions in 2003, Ms. Ridley was associated with a Dallas-based mergers and acquisitions firm. Prior to that, she grew and sold two of her own companies. One was acquired by American Express IDS and the other by a member of the Premier Client Division of Financial Network Investment Corporation (now ING).

In addition to advising business owner clients, Ms. Ridley coaches other professional advisors on how to offer and deliver business exit planning services to their clients.
