Advising and Valuing Small Businesses Under the Cloud of Covid 19

Program Description:
- Market Method - Selecting Comparables: will review the market method for use with small business valuation. Emphasis will be on selection of market comparables, evaluating comparables based on profitability charting and graphs, use of statistics, and estimating value using the market methods.
- Small and Micro Business Valuation Under Covid-19: will cover realistic ways to calculate micro and small business value during times of increased risk and uncertainty. Covid-19’s effects on the economy has magnified risk and uncertainty for small business – making the job of valuators more difficult. The program will dive into problematic areas of actual small business valuation cases to review theory and tie it into the actual application of methods using best practices and professional judgment. This webinar will be hands on with audience questions and succinct opinions welcomed.
- Advising Buyers and Sellers of Small Businesses: Attendees will leave knowing how CFO’s, CPA's, CVA's, lawyers, and other advisors effectively work with clients who are preparing to buy or sell a business. Focus will be given to helping the client assess underlying needs and desires, so they are prepared for the emotional changes of this type of life change. How to increase business valuate in preparation and an overview of the business sale process.

- Identify issues and questions that lead to meaningful conversations
- Determine if owners are ready to sell
- Prepare owners for uncertainty and set realistic expectations
- Determine specific factors that may increase profitability across products, services, or units of a company
- Understand and be able to oversee the steps for a proper brokerage / investment banking transaction
- Carry out due diligence steps and procedures
- Rate financing alternatives including SBA, Private Equity, and conventional financing for different types and sizes of transaction
Program Level: Intermediate: Learning activity level that builds on a basic program most appropriate for individuals with detailed knowledge in an area.
Prerequisites: Previous training or research on subject matter being taught. Such persons are often at a mid-level withing the organization, with operational and/or supervisory responsibilities.
