Program Description

This webinar will focus on the concept of hindsight as it pertains to valuations and, in particular, retrospective valuations. Recent court opinions have indicated that relying on events that occurred after the valuation date to support the valuation conclusion is not acceptable. That said, there are instances where the use of hindsight may be reasonable, if not welcomed. The presentation aims to help participants to discern when, and when not, to use hindsight in valuations.

Learning Objectives

After completing this Webinar, attendees will be able to:

- Assess what hindsight is with respect to valuations
- List previous litigation matters in which hindsight was used in retrospective valuations
- Identify why courts disagreed with the use of hindsight in reaching valuation conclusions
- Determine situations when hindsight could be used to support a valuation
