Holders of business valuation accreditations from the American Society of Appraisers—ASA (ASA), Institute of Business Appraisers—IBA (CBA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants—AICPA (ABV), and holders of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation offered by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, may apply to waive NACVA’s certification five-day training prerequisite. It is NACVA’s policy that grandfathering is not allowed. Even under its Recognition program, at a minimum, candidates are required to take and pass the proctored exam and submit a valuation report prepared for a client in the last 12 months for grading by the VCB or designated body (see Experience Waiver on page 8), in order to obtain NACVA’s valuation credential.
