The Business Valuator Accredited for Litigation (BVAL) Workshop is designed to enhance litigation skills for business valuation professionals. Through this robust and intensive five-day workshop, attendees will gain an understanding of the legal environment in which valuation experts practice and the skills necessary to survive the rigors of the litigation process and the courtroom.

Learning Objectives
Attendees will expand their knowledge of professional standards as related
to business valuation in a litigation setting and gain hands-on experience
in deposition and trial*. A major component of the workshop is the Expert
Testimony Clinic, during which each participant will give a live deposition
and serve as an expert witness in trial. The experienced faculty will work with
attendees on communication skills and will critique their testimony.

Attendees of the five-day workshop will learn legal concepts relating to business valuation and expert witnesses, professional standards for business valuation experts, application of professional standards in the litigation environment, report writing in litigation, communication skills in litigation, effective deposition and trial testimony skills, and dynamics of litigation in business valuation matters.

Day 2—Professional Standards for Valuation Experts and Report Writing in
the Litigation Environment—Responding to Opinions and Reports of Experts
Day 3—Expert Witness Clinic—Excelling in Deposition
Day 4—Expert Witness Clinic—Excelling in Trial Testimony
Day 5: AM—Dynamics of Litigation—Dealing with Counsel
and Avoiding Common Pre-Trial and During-Trial Mistakes
Day 5: PM—BVAL Exam

Upon successful completion of the workshop, including the examination
conducted during class, attendees will qualify for the BVAL accreditation, issued
