I am honored to be recognized as an Outstanding
Member of NACVA. Having been a NACVA member and
designee since 1995, I’ve had the pleasure of
watching it grow exponentially and become
increasingly responsive to the broad spectrum of
constituency needs and requirements. We have much of
which to be proud as members and contributors to an
organization that has developed from a fledgling
upstart to the leader in our profession, and beyond.
As a solo tax practitioner for over thirty years and
now as a member of Braver P.C., a large regional
public accounting firm, I have found my involvement
in business valuation and in NACVA to be among the
most enjoyable and stimulating things I do. I helped
start the Massachusetts Chapter of the NACVA in 1995
along with a handful of dedicated fellow CVAs. We
knew in the beginning that education is the critical
focus for success of a state chapter. To that end,
we recruit presenters from within our Massachusetts
group and from around the nation. Our Program
Committee, which I have chaired for these past many
years, designs each quarterly seminar. This
organization is my greatest professional
achievement.
I also sit on the NACVA Ethics Oversight Board,
serve on The Value Examiner Editorial Board, and am
a contributing editor for our quarterly referral
source newsletter, Insights on Valuation. I
co-chaired the 2009 Annual Conference and am
Co-chair of the 2011 Conference Academic Award
Committee. In all these NACVA involvements, I am
constantly collaborating with our profession’s best,
brightest, and most motivated. This has been an
inspiration for my own practice and an opportunity
for me to inspire my colleagues as well.
In addition, over the years NACVA has afforded me
the chance to build close personal friendships and
share common interests with colleagues such as
gourmet cuisine, golf, sailing, travel, and various
outdoor activities. As they say, it’s been a good
ride. And, I hope to continue to contribute to
NACVA’s success for many years to come. Thank you,
NACVA!

This is truly an honor and privilege to be
recognized as an Outstanding Member by NACVA. I am
humbled to have my name associated with past
outstanding members.
Having joined NACVA in 1998 I immediately saw
leadership’s effort to make NACVA be the premiere
Business Valuation organization. From my
perspective, NACVA has achieved its goal. As a new
member attending my first NACVA conference in 1999,
and realizing that what I thought I knew about
business valuations was a farce, until now NACVA has
provided me with a great wealth of knowledge through
resources provided but most importantly
relationships that I have developed with fellow
members.
Living on the Gulf Coast, in Mobile, Alabama, we
enjoy lovely weather year ‘round – for the most
part, except when a hurricane comes barreling
through. My wife of 27 years, Lisa, recently dragged
me to the tennis courts and now I’m a tennis
fanatic. My passion used to be golf however that has
taken a back seat. We have two children one of which
is living at home while studying to become a dental
hygienist and the other graduated from Auburn
University with a degree in finance (a potential
AVA!) and is living and working in Gainesville,
Florida.
Having served on the Ethics Oversight Board and
Chair and member of the Valuation Credentialing
Board has given me insights into the NACVA
leadership that I may not otherwise have had the
opportunity to see. As NACVA continues to expand and
offer opportunities to its members, I look forward
to continuing my involvement and hope that I can
offer a fraction of what I have received.
