INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE

Position: Financial Analyst/Business Appraiser

SALARY RANGE: $87,894 .00 USD per year (starting in Chicago)
OPEN PERIOD: Monday, March 23, 2009 to June 22, 2009 (end date subject to change).

SERIES & GRADE: GS-1160-13/13. This is a Career/Career-Conditional appointment. No moving expenses are authorized.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is a Financial Analyst/Senior Business Appraiser in the Large and Mid-size Business Division of the Internal Revenue Service with responsibility for analyzing financial principles for conformity with Service policies and industry standards.

MAJOR DUTIES:
For Chicago applicants, the incumbent performs unique, often controversial and precedent setting determinations of financial and business interests. Extensive knowledge is applied to an extremely broad range of business interests such as large multinational corporations; foreign controlled corporations; closely held corporations with multiple, international, and national, operating divisions; non-profit corporations; real estate holding companies; banking, brokerage and insurance businesses. The incumbent must often devise strategies and utilize innovative, modified techniques to solve extraordinary problems. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial, and economic practices and principles necessary to make comparisons of business operations, form projections of income and expenses, determine fair rates of return and estimates of value. In depth knowledge of business valuation practices and principles, financial publications, trade publications, computer based reference services, and other information sources.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
All applicants must demonstrate possession of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12). Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Qualifying experience is experience that demonstrated accomplishment of financial analysis, financial studies, or appraisal project assignments requiring comprehensive knowledge of business principles, concepts, and advanced techniques to analyze complicated valuation problems.
