CVA/AVA Exam
Among other requirements, CVA/AVA candidates must pass a comprehensive two-part examination. Part One is a five-hour proctored exam, and Part Two is a take-home/in-office exam incorporating a standardized case study (provided by NACVA) that requires performing a complete business valuation. Part Two of our exam takes 40–60 hours to complete. (Note: Experienced practitioners in business valuation and related disciplines can in lieu of taking Part Two of the exam, submit a sanitized Fair Market Value business valuation report on an operating business, prepared in the last 12 months, representative of the practitioner’s work product, for review and grading by NACVA’s Valuation Credentialing Board or designated body). A fee must be submitted along with the application, and the applicant must be a current Practitioner (or Academic or Government) member of NACVA prior to consideration for waiver.

The CVA/AVA proctored exam is given at all locations on the Saturday morning following NACVA's weeklong training program entitled Business Valuation Certification and Training Center (BVTC),unless prior alternative arrangements have been made by a participant. If you cannot take the proctored exam on the Saturday following training, you may take the proctored exam online at a testing facility in your area. The testing facilities have varying testing dates and times. You can coordinate scheduling the exam, including testing center locations, dates, and times availability directly with NACVA's Exam Facilitation Specialist (call 801-486-0600). You can schedule your examination prior to or after training, and we recommend you do so as soon as possible.. There is an additional fee for taking the exam at a later date, not on Saturday after one of NACVA's training programs noted above..
The NACVA CVA/AVA exam fee is $595.
