JOSEPH D. BROPHY APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE TEXAS SOCIETY OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS RELATIONS WITH IRS COMMITTEE

Brophy to serve as a vital member of the organization’s volunteer team
beginning June 2008.

DALLAS (April 28, 2008) - Joseph D. Brophy, namesake of Dallas-based Joseph D. Brophy CPA, P.C., announced today that he has been appointed Chairman of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Relations with IRS Committee for 2008. His one-year term begins June 2008.

The Texas Society of Certified Public Accounts (TSCPA) is a 28,000 member non-profit organization that is dedicated to advancing the highest standards of ethics and practice within the CPA profession. Brophy is also a member of the TSCPA Board of Directors and its Ethics Committee.

Brophy incorporated his accounting practice in 1985, and offers experienced personalized service in tax representation and preparation, financial planning, estate planning, --more - business valuations, mergers and acquisitions, and consulting. Prior to establishing his own practice, Brophy served as an officer for both public and private companies and has experience as a business owner and as an advisor to clients buying and selling companies.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue my service to the accounting profession,” said Brophy. “Our mission is to conduct meetings between representatives of IRS and the TSCPA to improve taxpayer service.”

Brophy is a recognized leader of the accounting profession in Texas, with an extensive list of professional accomplishments and affiliations including memberships in the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (AMAA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). His previous leadership positions include chairman of the Training Committee of the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (AMAA), chairman of the Valuation Committee of the National Association of Valuation Analysts, and vice president of the North Texas chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Additionally, Brophy was selected in 2007 to represent the TSCPA at the annual AICPA/IRS joint meeting in Washington, D.C.

KOERBER INVITED SPEAKER TO UNVERSITY OF ALABAMA SCHOOL OF ACCOUNTANCY

In February, Jim Koerber, CPA/ABV, CVA, CFE was an invited speaker at the University of Alabama's Culverhouse School of Accountancy. Koerber spoke to the accounting students on business valuation, litigation services, and forensic accounting, as new career opportunities for accounting graduates. Koerber is a shareholder with The Koerber Company, PA, a Hattiesburg CPA firm, which provides forensic, valuation, and litigation services to attorneys, CPAs, and their clients.

   
 

Welcome David Wood, Chairman of the Editorial Board

In our quest to make our peer-review process as efficient and effective as possible, strengthen our editorial policies, and increase The Value Examiner's usefulness to readers, we asked David N. Wood to serve as Chairman of the Editorial Board. We are honored that David accepted our invitation.

David is the principle of Wood Forensic/Valuation Services in Mount Vernon, IL. He has served on the Editorial Board for a year, and has been an invaluable peer-reviewer and adviser to the editorial staff.
